In 2011, Bram Aerts founded ATAMA together with Carolien Pasmans. After graduating from the KULeuven, he gained professional experience in Brussels and Antwerp. With more than 15 years of expertise in architecture and urbanism he focuses on the creative direction of the office. He is closely involved in all ATAMA projects, from conception to realisation, including the Leietheater Deinze, the Design Museum Gent, the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sound Brussels and innovative transformation projects such as the Arlon 53 high-rise project in Brussels.
For various projects, the practiace received international recognition such as several nominations for the EU Mies van der Rohe award (2019, 2022 and 2024). The office received the Belgian Building Award in 2020 and the European Bauhaus Award AHI 2025.
Bram Aerts is a dedicated teacher at the Faculty of Architecture KULeuven Sint-Lucas Ghent since 2008 and formerly at the University of Antwerp and the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture.
Bram Aerts lectures in Flanders, Brussels and internationally and is a jury member in architecture competitions. He acts as an author and has contributed to publications such as City Made (nai 010 – 2018) and As a Theatre (MER Paper Kunsthalle – 2020).
Since 2021 Bram Aerts is member of the Quality Chamber of the city of Ghent. In this capacity, he advises clients and architects on the quality of projects that are realised in Ghent.

Im Jahr 2011 gründete Bram Aerts gemeinsam mit Carolien Pasmans ATAMA. Nach seinem Abschluss an der KULeuven sammelte er berufliche Erfahrungen in Brüssel und Antwerpen. Mit mehr als 15 Jahren Expertise in Architektur und Städtebau verantwortet er die kreative Leitung des Büros. Er ist eng in alle ATAMA-Projekte eingebunden – von der Konzeption bis zur Realisierung –, darunter das Leietheater in Deinze, das Design Museum Gent, das Königliche Institut für Theater, Film und Ton in Brüssel sowie innovative Transformationsprojekte wie das Hochhausprojekt Arlon 53 in Brüssel.
Für verschiedene Projekte erhielt das Büro internationale Anerkennung, unter anderem durch mehrere Nominierungen für den EU Mies van der Rohe Award (2019, 2022 und 2024). 2020 wurde das Büro mit dem Belgian Building Award ausgezeichnet, 2025 folgte der European Bauhaus Award AHI.
Seit 2008 ist Bram Aerts engagierter Dozent an der Fakultät für Architektur KULeuven Sint-Lucas in Gent, zuvor lehrte er an der Universität Antwerpen und an der Rotterdam Academy of Architecture.
Bram Aerts hält Vorträge in Flandern, Brüssel und international und ist Jurymitglied bei Architekturwettbewerben. Zudem ist er als Autor tätig und hat zu Publikationen wie City Made (nai010, 2018) und As a Theatre (MER Paper Kunsthalle, 2020) beigetragen.
Seit 2021 ist Bram Aerts Mitglied der Qualitätskammer der Stadt Gent. In dieser Funktion berät er Bauherrinnen und Architektinnen hinsichtlich der Qualität von Projekten, die in Gent realisiert werden.
